Gold, Guides and Gals

Even though I’ve had less than half an hour’s playtime per day for the last couple of weeks my gold pile keeps getting bigger and bigger. Any guesses on what my bread and butter is these days? :p

I'm practically giving them away! :p

I’m busy working away on a few projects at the moment. Coming in the next week should be my ‘Bloodsail Exalted Guide’ which has been moving along nicely – I’ve completed interviews with Lostshard and Zmorris to include in it so far and still need to meet up with Nekyr. The guide is going to feature tips, tricks and techniques from the masters on not only getting your reputation to Honored for the insane title but all the way through to Exalted.

Another little project that keeps getting bigger and bigger is my ‘Guide to RNG’ which I originally conceived as a single post topic. As I’ve sat down and thought more and more about what I want include in it the scope keeps getting bigger. It’s going to be a really fun one for sure! If you’ve got any examples of people/posts/threads of people failing to understand RNG then send them through so I can include them in the guide!

After those two I’m planning a dual-release Winterspring Frostsaber / Venomhide Ravasaur Guide with instructional videos throughout.

I’m also looking for suggestions on well known/prominent/famous female WoW players that we can interview for the site. I think the guys have had enough for the moment, it’s time to even things out a little bit.

Hit me up with a comment or an email if you have suggestions or ideas!

Interview with Baron Soosdon

Baron Soosdon REALLY hated those murlocs.

A few weekends back Serephim and I were lucky enough to catch up with Baron Soosdon, the famous WoW Machinima maker. For those unfamiliar with the term, ‘Machinima’ is a marriage of the terms ‘Machine’ and ‘Cinema’ and has come to represent the fast growing movement of player-created gaming movies.

What originally began with simple screen captures of in-game events with basic text overlayed has blossomed into an intricate, beautiful and delicate art form of which Baron Soosdon is a master. This was a really fun interview and I hope you’ll enjoy reading and listening to it!

Secrets, Easter Eggs and Rare Stuff!

One of the things that I’ve always loved about Warcraft is that over the years I’ve been constantly surprised by hidden little easter eggs, features, flavour text and references squirreled away in hard to find places.

How much do I love hidden stuff? As WOTLK launched I caught wind of the [Higher Learning] achievement and made sure I was the first on my server to have my shiny new pet just a few days into the expansion. It wasnt really because I thought it was an uber or elite thing to do but because it was a sufficiently different thing to do.

If you’ve ever armoried me or have read my posts in the past you might have an inkling for how much I like these unusual things. I love discovering obscure rare items, quests and locations and setting out after them. Stuff like [Lasitor] (Firefly Reference, Amazingly rare), Nat Pagle’s Fish Terminator (I’m a long term Nat Pagle fanatic!) and [Circle of Flame] (1% drop rate, cool unique model for cloth/leather wearers) really interest me.

What rare and hidden stuff is on the top of your list? Be it Sawbones Shirt, the South Seas Islands or just an out of the way cave I’d love to hear from you!

Oh, and I have to share – I finally caught the rare [Minigob Manabonk] and got him to sheep me. It gets you a single use wand that can be used to sheep another player in Dalaran. Oh the mischief (read: griefing!) to be had with that one :p

Forgotten Warla Clip

Hey Hey! I realised a few weeks back that when I published my interview with Warla on the site back in July I went to the trouble of creating a teaser clip on YouTube but never posted it anywhere. For those of you new to the site or who read the article but didnt download the MP3 it’s definitely worth a listen!

Serephim and I had great fun chatting to him and listening to his stories. In this particular excerpt we’re chatting about farming the nightmare fragments for the AQ Gate Questline back at level 60 when they were 1% drops from annoying-to-kill portal trash.

Anyway have a listen! and if you missed the original article click here to check it out:

18 Part Macro of Doom

So as I recently made you aware I get a lot of random whispers. I thought I’d seen it all until recently a good friend, Asmeil, laid this 18 Part (yes really) macro on me:

I think earlier in the evening I had responded to a whisper with the first line or two and in return I received that monster. Very cool I thought, and definitely something I would have expected from [Corwin] first! :)

In other news! For the current seasonal holiday, Brewfest, I originally set out to get my title and told myself I’d be happy with getting the [Direbrew's Remote] since BRD is one of my all-time favourite zones.

Well I got both pretty early on in the piece which just left the [Great Brewfest Kodo] to get. I missed a whole lot of days killing Coren because of a busy work schedule but this afternoon decided to pug it, and guess what:

"Awww, twenty dollars! I wanted a peanut!"

Thanks to Froddeck, Xorian, Serin and Skylur for being good sports about it too :)
