Insane Reputations needed at same time?

I recently responded to a post on the official WoW forums on this topic. I thought it might be worthwhile to bring it up with you guys to discuss.

The gist of my response is “No, from information available you most likely will not need the reputations at the same time. Some people, however, have documented and reported different results. Why risk it anyway?”.

A copy of my response on the forums is below:

One of the main contributors to the widespread debate on this topic is actually BECAUSE of the ‘official’ responses. Many people have asked the question of GM’s and received responses in game both advising for and against the ‘all reps at the same time’ topic.

A player then posts a screenshot of their particular ‘official’ response believing it to be the ultimate truth and so the debates go on. What we’re left with unfortunately is a collection of competing official responses and the many unofficial testimonials to go with them.

I wrote about this – and included links to several different GM response screenshots – in my bloodsail exalted guide which you can take at if you like.

Name these quests – Winners

Here you are! Very closely contested, I was pretty surprised how easily you guys answered some of (what I thought were) the tougher ones. A huge thanks goes to Penfold for helping me come up with all of these.

Winners

First Place – Tax with 12/15 Correct
Second Place – Dregor and Decretalium with 11/15 Correct

Congrats guys! Flick me an email with what your card preference is (1-2-3) and I’ll send you out the codes. It was definitely open to interpretation with some of them, most of you were tricked with number 12 (hardest quest) catching some of you off guard. The ‘get your heart racing’ was a clue to that fact it was the Captain Skyshatter/Dragonmaw race.

Barbequed was also the only person to come close to number 3 (this is just a tribute) which referred to [A Broken Trap] which was an integral part of any Dire Maul Tribute run.

What game shall we play next? Any ideas? :)

Name these quests!

I think you guys are going to love this one – thanks to a friend and patron of the site, [Fortissimo], I’ve got some loot cards up for grabs with this competition:

Of course I had to make it harder this time round! Using the cryptic clues below post a response with the names of the corresponding quests. They’re almost entirely classic quests and the majority are available to both factions.

1. The gold at the end of this treasure hunt is not at all what one would expect.
2. A silky solution to a common problem.
3. This is not the greatest quest in the world, this is just a tribute.
4. So wait a second…if I turn the quest in I’ll lose this toy? Not happening!
5. With the assistance of Billy Shears.
6. We have to do it in under 45 minutes? How is that even possible?
7. You would have to be insane to do this one more than a few times.
8. You die if you drink the liquid, but the quest says you have to so…bottoms up!
9. Not as bad as Chuck Norris, but will still cause you to /leave 1
10. An epic quest chain involving the crafting of special bane weapons which culminates in battle against a demon on a lofty desert plateau.
11. Slay the mightiest beast in all of Azeroth!
12. It’s been referred to as the hardest solo quest in the game by many. This one will definitely get your heart racing.
13. Break his will, control his mind, with his power the three rebind.
14. What, 40 Already? That’s bullcrap!
15. This lass is udderly better than Fay or Naomi

I’ll leave this post up for five days after which the winners will be announced. Good luck!

Quel’Delar and Patch 3.3

So patch 3.3 is upon us! After logging in to check out the new patch stuff like the Random LFG system and achievements I ended up having a pretty fun time.

Later on a friend, Gurry, linked the [Battered Hilt] rare drop he’d just won in the new instance. Having read up on Quel’Delar I was only too happy to part with a small amount of gold in exchange for it!

Off I went! The questline was pretty cool with a lot of little scripted scenes included. Seeing Blood Queen Lana’thyl, Being allowed into the Horde area in Dalaran, Fighting the Quel’delar Blade in the Halls of Reflection and visiting a special post-Kil’jaeden Sunwell were definitely the highlights.

I was somewhat disappointed with how easy it was and how quickly I was able to get through it. I think rare drop farming and harder instances would have made this more special. Although I was happy to get my iLvL 251 [Lightborn Spire] at the end I was somewhat reminded of the same empty feeling I had finishing my epic flight form quest – why wasnt there more?

Here’s a few screenshots of the highlights:

Blood Queen Lana'thel

How /rude!

So usually when I’m doing my auctions and generally chatting away in Ironforge I’ll advertise ’450 [Enchanting] available in Ironforge’ in trade channel. I have 100% of enchants and the 10-20g tips people throw in make a decent side-income.

I know 20g might not seem like much when you have 160k but it all adds up! That’s like doing a daily except I didnt have to leave the comfort of Ironforge and the gold comes to me. Not bad right?

I never insist on tips and I don’t specify a fee. This means that sometimes I do it just for the ‘thanks’ which I’m perfectly fine with. Occasionally, though, someone comes along who needs lots of hand holding, material linking, advice etc. Maybe they need me to use my hearth and come to them? In those situations I might expect a ‘thanks heaps for that!’ from them.

Imagine my annoyance at helping someone get materials together for 2 x [Mongoose] enchants, enchanting their weapons, and NOT EVEN getting a ‘thanks’ whispered. I thought it might be fun to give the person reason to think about tipping or saying thanks next time.

Non tippers

Got any stories to share about rude enchanting/trade skill customers? I’d love to hear them!

PS – This screenshot was about two weeks back. I just realised I must be making about 4-5k/week from raptor pets/mongoose/spellpower which is much much more than I’d thought given I havent been online much lately. Maybe its time for some more gold posts? :)

Pristine Black Diamonds

I often see threads in the official wow forums or questions in the comment section of my Shen’dralar Exalted guide about Pristine Black Diamonds.

Aspiring insane in the membrane folks buy all of their librams in advance and sometimes completely forget they need the diamonds to go with each libram hand-in and end up being stuck with paying 300g/diamond because they have no other choice.

I thought it might be cool for us to all share our tips, tricks and techniques for acquiring these rarities and in doing so create a good reference link to share with people.

My tips are:

  • Plan ahead! Even if you’re not working on Shen’dralar just yet keep checking the auction house every single day for diamonds. Let your guildmates and friends know you’re after them too.
  • Make an Alliance/Horde alt to check the opposing factions auction house and snap up their cheap diamonds when you see them.
  • Find out who else is working on Insane in the Membrane and make friends with them. Anyone who decides to abandon the grind halfway through is a possible good source for diamonds.

What else do you guys have to add?
