Zevia: Must Go Faster!

Hey folks, Zevia here. Most people have become pretty impatient when it comes to heroic farming at this point, and if you’re the tank, you may find yourself feeling constantly pressured to pick up the pace.

For your viewing pleasure, I’ve included an example of how to chain pull through a heroic with some on-the-fly commentary. It does assume you know the basics of tanking and mostly just touches on a few tips to keep in mind to help you move from one group to the next at a pace that’s good for the group.

The group in this video is simply a random PuG, not guildmates or anybody I knew beforehand, so rest assured that your average group should be capable of moving through most heroics at this pace if you push them to. Let me know what you think!

Warcraft Word Jumble – Asmeil

Enjoy! I’ve gone with seven letter words this week and hopefully you’ll find these a bit tougher :) Don’t forget to point your friend and guildmates here to share in the fun! Also if you’ve got any cool ideas for future jumbles flick me an email.

Gold Cap Reached!

Yesterday I officially hit the gold cap – the official limit at which point your character cannot receive any more gold. How much exactly? This much:

If anyone trades me even a copper, or if I try to take money from auctions from my mailbox, I get the following error message:

I thought in honor of this milestone I’d share some statistics based on my last 12 months of auctions data. Although my record keeping (via beancounter) is quite complete I’m missing all my raptor pet sales which I’d estimate as being around 100k.

My best sellers

A few interesting things here. You’ll notice that around August I stopped making gold by buying/reselling Abyss crystals. At the same time the market on the 40 stamina to bracer enchant collapsed. Why? The Argent Tournament patch was introduced, and the sudden flood of Abyss Crystals (from the 5-man) onto the market saw prices drop from 120g to 20g and under!

My most profitable week

I’ve had some good weeks, and I’ve had some really good weeks. My best week in the last 12 months was the 7th-13th June with approximately 35k in profit. The big spike day here was partly due to some Darkmoon Decks I’d hung onto from throughout the previous month leading up to the faire.

Where to from here? Well I’m probably sitting at around 230k at the moment so it’ll no doubt be time to spend a small amount on a few things I’ve been avoiding like the Kirin’tor ring and a chopper. From there I guess I’ll probably keep going…300k here I come!

Got any specific questions on how I did it? Hit me up with a comment below!

Warcraft Word Jumble – Missus

Here’s the second Word Jumble for you guys. I’ll be releasing a new one of these every Thursday. Once again making your comments cryptic in nature would be a helpful, not that this one is super hard. Enjoy!

Special shout outs to Sephrenia and Anea too, much <3!

If you enjoy these posts I’d appreciate if you could use the ‘share’ button below to help me spread the love!

Zevia: Starting a guild and being a leader

This week Zevia talks about the fundamentals of starting a guild and the different ways to approach leadership. For those of you that have started guilds or been in leadership positions what have your experiences been?

Warcraft Word Jumble

Just a quick puzzle for you guys today. The ‘Word Jumble’ puzzles that appear in the newspaper here are a favourite of mine. Since people seem to like puzzles I had the idea to put together some of these except with a wow-related theme.

Let me know what you think and maybe we can make it a regular weekly thing? Also instead of posting the answer in your comments and giving it away how about just saying if you also think _ _ _ _ _ is the worst place of all too? :D

My Guide to Making Deals

This was a fun one to write! Looking back over the last few months I think I’ve always been headed in this direction. One of the things I enjoy the most about making gold is trying to understand and predict human behavior.

I’ve always seemed to be able to achieve positive outcomes when it comes to interacting with people. Not just in-game but also in real life social situations as well as with employees in work situations. I thought I might start sharing the approach and methods I use in interacting with people here.

Let me know what you think, there’s plenty more to come if you like it!

Zevia: Interview with Psychi

Hey guys, Zevia here. The other episode for this week was an interview I had with Psychi, who is a regular visitor at the website here and is often one of the first people to respond to much of the material posted. He is one of the Insane-titled Saate-ans, so on the topic of how people might approach the way they play games, I asked him some questions about his achievements and what he takes away from the hunt for them.

I’ll be back to the regular schedule of episodes after this week, so I’ll see you all soon!

The Price of Insanity – Chart

Thanks to the input from everyone on my recent post about the cost of the [Insane in the Membrane] achievement I’ve put together a chart with all the prices. It shows a breakdown of the reputations involved and the time and gold costs in getting each one to the required level.

Keep in mind that even if you farm materials like the [Pristine Black Diamond] yourself they still have a value which you forgo by turning them in for reputation instead of selling them on the Auction House. That’s the essence of the costs included here!

All up the cost of completing the [Insane in the Membrane] achievement is 111 hours of time invested and 107,175g.

As always would love to hear your feedback and any stories of disbelief when you tell your guildmates and friends exactly how much you spent getting your title!

Zevia: On Gamer Mentality

Hey folks, Zevia here. I know I’ve been absent for the last few weeks, but I’ve been dedicating most of my non-work time to leveling a character on a new server to play with a new group of people.

However, to make up for my lack of contributions lately, I’ve included two episodes this week. The first is a talk about what I call gamer mentality, or gamer logic – essentially, a discussion about how even the simplest aspects of games most of us just take for granted, and that the most obvious things typically aren’t all that obvious to people who don’t play games.

Here’s an opportunity for some feedback, by the way – what do you guys think of the short intros? Should I get rid of them, or would you like me to keep them in?
