Treasures: Circle of Flame
Quick one tonight – here’s the next item in my collection! I absolutely love the 1% epic drops in classic instances – there’s very unique and largely unknown effects on a lot of them so they’re prized possessions indeed!

Did you know that there’s another rare (1%) drop off a classic instance boss that (sort of) violates the WoW ToS? No ideas what I’m talking about? You’ll have to wait I guess… :p
Warcraft Word Jumble – Isadoriana
We’ve got two long weekend’s in a row here so I’ve found myself with a little extra time today. I thought it might be nice to throw together an impromptu Word Jumble today. Big thanks to Isadoriana of
I also owe Jess a thanks in case she’s reading! There’s nothing particularly difficult in this one and the first paragraph gives away the general theme.
If anyone needs hints ask me on Twitter. I’ll also post answers there in a few days so be sure and follow @SaateNet for updates :)
As an aside – do you guys think it’s worth me continuing the jumbles each week? I’ve got a new template designed but am not sure if they’re worthwhile to more than a handful of people. Let me know! Happy to consider changing difficulty/theme/layout/whatever as well.
Games You Should’ve Played, Episode 1
Hey folks, Zevia here.
Got a video for you today that I’m hoping to make a series (we’ll see how it all works out) called Games You Should’ve Played, where I’ll be talking about retro games that if you never got a chance to get your hands on, you missed out.
Today we’re talking about Super Mario RPG. Enjoy.
Treasures: Magic Rooster Egg
With the combination of a penchant for curiosities, a collector mentality and half a decade’s playtime you can imagine I’ve ended up with a bank full of pretty interesting things on my main character. Old quest items, quest rewards, rare drops with unique models or clickable effects, super rare stuff….the list goes on and there’s a story behind them all!
I thought that – besides giving me some Adobe Illustrator practice – it might be cool to share these stories with you guys each week :)

Would love to hear about your own collections and treasures as we go! You can now also chat to me or hit me up with feedback via Twitter so don’t forget to check out the link in the side bar!
Flashback – Burning Crusade Attunements
I was recently looking through some of my old warcraft notes and stumbled across a folder called ‘BC Preparation’. Some years back in the months leading up to the release of The Burning Crusade I had evidently collected a bunch of documents and maps to help me plan for the expansion. Some of the contents I remembered well but other stuff, like this chart, I had long forgotten.
This is a chart that someone put together that details the attunements needed to get into the endgame instances. Although I went through it all at the time I had forgotten how much there was to it all! They’ve long since removed the requirements for these attunements and I don’t doubt that a majority of players these days have no idea how it worked.
Interesting, eh?
Crash Gold Spammers? Someone has to try this!
So two seconds ago I read this in IRC:
[16:57] [janneman] right so apparently you can crash the goldspammer bots with a [Piccolo of the Flaming Fire].
You know those annoying 20-box level 1 toons that have been plaguing towns lately? Flying around in the air and making gold spammer urls and stuff? Apparently if you play your Piccolo, which makes all the players around you /dance, it can result in them crashing.
I can’t believe I havent seen/heard about this sooner! Someone has to give it a go and post results, I’ll be online late tonight and would love to hear stories or see screenshots :)
Let me know!
Archaeology News – Qiraji Battle Tank Mount?
Here’s an excellent intro to how the new Cataclysm profession Archaeology will look and work. It was put together by Totalbiscuit of thecynicalbrit.com who I think has done a fantastic job in introducing things.
As you’ll see from watching the video it looks like it’ll be quite a time sink to get to the good (read: vanity) stuff! There’s already been mention of vanity pets, heirloom weapons and even mounts.
One of the most interesting things to come out of recent datamining is this:

It’s stirred up many forum threads over exactly what kind of mount it will be, how hard it will be to get, and what it will look like. It doesnt take a huge amount of imagination to read the lore text there and – combined with what else has been datamined – figure it out:

So it seems that after so many years we may start seeing more battle tanks around. It may surprise you to hear that as a Scarab Lord I’m not particularly bitter or against the idea of this occuring. People have been asking for a chance to get this mount for some time and, as they say, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few!
I’ve had years of my mount being ‘special’ and you’ve all seen the masses of whispers it has brought. I’ll still have my title and the feat of strength – onwards to better things eh? :) Really looking forward to learning more about Archaeology so you can bet there will be plenty more posts on this topic!

The perception of entitlement
I thought this might be an interesting topic to share on a Monday and would love your thoughts. On more than a few occasions I’ve observed conversations that go like this:
-
[Guild] [Fred] says: Damnit I lost the roll.
[Guild] [Fred] says: I beat the guy who won it on DPS too, he came second last!
On a social and contractual level everyone understands and accepts the /roll convention for distributing loot. It’s interesting to see the kinds of ‘alternate perspectives’ that emerge after a losing roll when tempers are perhaps a little frayed though.
I’ve thought about the thought processes here and why it seems like the kinds of comments above get made. What’s going on there? There’s some anger that the person didnt get what they wanted and now…what appears to be ego posturing to justify that anger? Continue reading
Scarab Lord Whispers, Part 3
A year ago I posted my first ‘Scarab Lord Whispers’ compilation. Some months after that I ended up putting together a second compilation and figured I’d leave it there.
Well as time passed and the whispers kept coming I started collecting screenshots again. This time I’ve gone for a much different presentation! Huge thanks to Shannon who helped out with the Photoshop work on this one.
Enjoy! :)
