Discipline Priest PvE Tips (Patch 4.0.3a)

This video is actually a supplement to the PvE guide I wrote and posted to the WoW forums. You can find the link to the full guide here.

Cataclysm Launch LAN Party

Hey folks, Zevia here.

It’s currently 3:50 PM on Wednesday, December 8, as I write this, so we are on day 2 of the Cataclysm release. The owner of the house I live in decided to invite a handful of our friends who happen to also be our guildmates over, and we’ve been LANing it up since midnight of last night. I have to go to work in about 45 minutes or so, but the queues to get on my server are between 30 and 60 minutes, so instead of checking auctions and maybe doing a little ore farming, I’m going to do a quick write-up here before I reheat some leftover chicken for breakfast.

So here are the initial thoughts on Cataclysm and how things have been going in the house!

Best Method For Mana Regen: Trust

I kind of have the feeling that anyone who healed in pre-BC days will instantly know what I mean and those who’ve only jumped in for WotLK will instantly go, “What?”

Just like that.

Some of you (holy priests) may have noticed that there’s a lot of questions around the forum about how the hell people are supposed to manage mana now that they might have to think about what they’re doing instead of spamming their “best” heal. Oddly, the most useful piece of information is in fact mentioned here and there, but strangely downplayed. Instead, you have a thousand threads saying that mana regen needs to be buffed or how about unfair it is for druids to have revitalize.

So what’s this magical thing that some people know about but for some reason is not played up in the community?

In Case You Missed It, #4

Perhaps I should just retitle these things, “What to do when you’re online, but not on WoW. Or waiting for a dungeon queue.” Rolls right off the tongue!

Anyway, today I have a couple of websites that are really just fantastic for when you have a lot of time on your hands and want to do some reading that is not in book format (interestingly, I’m pretty sure anyone who complains that people don’t read enough nowadays probably haven’t considered that, yes they do, it’s just not in book format any more).

Discipline Priest Commercial: Smite

Wednesday night, I was only able to get 4 hours of sleep, and the previous night I only got 2. Normally I work the late shift at my job, but I was called in at 9:30 AM to help out setting up for Thanksgiving and whatnot. On the way to work, the following commercial came to me as an idea when I was randomly thinking about the Powerthirst video. Figured you’d get a kick out of it. Fair warning, it’s pretty loud, and is thus not really safe for work.

Games You Should’ve Played, #2

So this one was pretty popular, but a lot of people still never got a chance to play it. And so I present to you, Games You Should’ve Played: Chrono Trigger.

Discipline PvE Guide (Patch 4.0.1)

Got a couple requests following my Discipline Healing Tips video to make a follow-up that talked about talents, glyphs, and gear. For those of you that were interested, here you go. As far as I know, nobody else has made one of these yet for the priest forums!

Discipline Healing Tips For Patch 4.0.1

I’ve been playing a discipline priest since Karazhan, and when Wrath of the Lich King came out, I was amazed how much more viable of a spec it was turned into with the addition of penance and the huge increase to power word: shield buffs. It used to be a great frustration of mine going into raids as discipline, however, and be told that it wasn’t a PvE spec. I used to get kicked out of PuG raids just because I wasn’t high on the heal meters, since they didn’t show absorbs.

Eventually I got so fed up with it that I made a video called Disc Healing Tips back in the days of Ulduar. It ended up becoming a Featured Video on Youtube and generated a good number of views and a lot of positive feedback. Of course, once patch 3.3 rolled around, EVERYBODY was discipline. It only took two major patches for people to realize you could use it in PvE.

Anyway, once 4.0.1 came out, I started having people ask me for an update to the healing tips guide. I just finished uploading it, and for any of you disc priests that follow Saate.net, here you go!

Games You Should’ve Played, Episode 1

Hey folks, Zevia here.

Got a video for you today that I’m hoping to make a series (we’ll see how it all works out) called Games You Should’ve Played, where I’ll be talking about retro games that if you never got a chance to get your hands on, you missed out.

Today we’re talking about Super Mario RPG. Enjoy.

In Case You Missed It, #3

We’ve got a Newgrounds day for you today!

For those of you who have never been, Newgrounds is a website that used to be devoted entirely to flash artists – games, animations, that sort of thing. More recently, they’ve also added the ability for artists to upload instrumental music.

Many of the more popular games and animations and whatnot tend to find their way to Newgrounds, if not originate from there. I may actually be referencing this site relatively often for ICYMI, but here’s some for you guys to check out today:
