How /rude!

So usually when I’m doing my auctions and generally chatting away in Ironforge I’ll advertise ’450 [Enchanting] available in Ironforge’ in trade channel. I have 100% of enchants and the 10-20g tips people throw in make a decent side-income.

I know 20g might not seem like much when you have 160k but it all adds up! That’s like doing a daily except I didnt have to leave the comfort of Ironforge and the gold comes to me. Not bad right?

I never insist on tips and I don’t specify a fee. This means that sometimes I do it just for the ‘thanks’ which I’m perfectly fine with. Occasionally, though, someone comes along who needs lots of hand holding, material linking, advice etc. Maybe they need me to use my hearth and come to them? In those situations I might expect a ‘thanks heaps for that!’ from them.

Imagine my annoyance at helping someone get materials together for 2 x [Mongoose] enchants, enchanting their weapons, and NOT EVEN getting a ‘thanks’ whispered. I thought it might be fun to give the person reason to think about tipping or saying thanks next time.

Non tippers

Got any stories to share about rude enchanting/trade skill customers? I’d love to hear them!

PS – This screenshot was about two weeks back. I just realised I must be making about 4-5k/week from raptor pets/mongoose/spellpower which is much much more than I’d thought given I havent been online much lately. Maybe its time for some more gold posts? :)

  1. I play a horde hunter on gurubashi who was an enchanter during tbc. One day a level 70 rogue who had just gotten his oh glaive needs a mongoose enchant from me when he realizes that he was missing 2 void crystals and 1 large prismatic and he didn’t have the money to buy them off the ah. After talking for a few minutes I decided to be a nice guy and get them for him. Once I had bought the mats and given him the enchant he just left the party and started linking his glaive in trade. He didn’t say a word to me.

  2. oh this one time i was a level 60 rogue on aman thul asking saate for money and he didnt give hahahaha
    ahhh good times
oh ye im on frostmourne now dude
    Lovedose

  3. My DK is a JC’er and some guy needed the epic melee ring made so I bought the pattern since I had extra tokens, met the guy and after a few minutes of helping him with the material list, and he asked me if I could supply 2 Dragonseyes. I said yes since he was offering a “huge tip.” Yeah, after crafting the ring and cutting him a gem for it I got paid a whopping 5gold for the ring, gem cut, TWO eyes and the “tip.” He’s on my ignore list and I sold the ring in the AH instead.

  4. Once, I asked Saate to do an enchant for me, he was busy so I mailed him the mats (and a scroll) and a tip. He sent back the enchanted scroll and the tip. I was like, wtf dude. >.<
He still wouldn't take the tip after I cornered him in dalaran.
    So rude :o

  5. no good deed goes unpunished. I have a high level chanter and the only thing I’ve gotten from helping people and hand holding is MAYBE a ‘thanks bro’ if I’m lucky. Usually people expect to be given everything for free, that you’ll travel and tell them all the materials for their enchants and how to get them. It’s at the point where I don’t even respond to guidlies I don’t know asking for enchantments. I know they won’t be grateful in any respect. at least you can make money spamming in IF.

  6. rly love ur site mate keep upp the good work!

  7. Now I know how much money u have I’m gonna pester u 24/7 ;P
I demand a refund on that scroll I got for my alt!!1!

  8. just because I love this topic…

so yesterday one of my belligerent guildmates asks ‘whos an engineer??’ to which I smarmily say ‘those who opted for the profession, I’d imagine.’

stupid me, now I’m his focus. and he didn’t understand what I was saying.

    ‘cuppcake, your an engineer?’

wasn’t really what I was saying and the fact that I am is meerly a coincidence although I know he thinks I said something because I was answering him, not making fun of him. In effect, the fact I said anything counted as a ‘yes’ to his klunky question in his mind.

    *sigh*

Turns out he wants me to make him a deadly blunderbus for that stupid quest in splintertree that no one does. But he’s doing it. Ok, fine. I’ll make it for you, dude because I know 99% of the server skips it and that little goblin girl questgiver is prolly lonely. Oh, the materials, here’s the link….oh you can’t…figure out the link?…ok I’ll tell you the materials. Ok, you…don’t understand? Ok, here’s what they all are, where to get them, their componet parts. Whoah…that’s a lotta question marks and ‘lols’…here, just come hand me 8 copper bars, medium skin the flux and wooden stock. I’m in the same city as you.

Oh, ok you mailed them. I’ll wait.

    *waits for mail*
*gets 3 insane whispers asking if I ‘have made them yet?’*

    *hour later*

Ah, there we go, oh…only sent 10 copper bars. Ok. I’ll go get the other matierials I was pretty specific about.

    *makes gun*
    *mails it back*
*days later not even a thank you*

    Yay! Helping others is its…own…reward?
